7 months already!

If anyone has any ideas as to how to make time stand still please tell me immediately. I have tried begging and pleading with Sophie, but she insists on growing. And I think she's growing even faster just to spite me. On August 15 she turned 7 months old! As if it knew how much I value punctuality, her first little tooth (bottom right) poked through that same day!
So what has Sophie been up to? Teething, learning how to sit unassisted (getting very good at it!), learning how to crawl (not happening anytime soon, which is fine by me), playing with friends, eating different types of foods, and playing with her cute little feet whenever she gets the chance.
Next week Sophie is going to the beach for the first time! I'm sure she eat lots of sand and have a great time.
And now, for the reason you "read" this blog: PICTURES

Don't you think I look like Mommy?

It is I, Sophie the Great. Now fetch me some clothes.

The Every 3 Months Theory

I have a new theory: Every 3 months something magically happens that causes something to "click" with Sophie. When she turned 3 months old she stopped crying relentlessly, started sleeping through the night, and just seemed happy in general.

Now that she has turned 6 months it seems we are experiencing more of the magic. She miraculously started napping this week IN HER CRIB, AT LEAST ONCE A DAY, FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR AND A HALF. She also doesn't mind being on her tummy as much, which is awesome because we thought she would never crawl and we'd have to carry her around forever.

She is now eating solids. She started rice cereal 2 weeks ago and ate green beans last night for dinner (is she really my child?).

She had her 6 month appointment yesterday and is growing by leaps and bounds! She is now in the 75% for length and the 25% for weight. As the nurse put it, "she is tall and thin," neither of which she gets from me.

A day in the life of Sophie...

...or why getting anywhere/doing anything is near impossible.

Just to give you a glimpse into my life, here is a rundown of a typical day (this past Tuesday in fact):
Sophie had been consistently waking up at about 8 am for close to a week. So Monday night when I made plans to go swimming with a friend, I thought 10 am would give us plenty of time to eat, play, get ready, etc. Only Sophie decided to sleep until 9. Which would have been great had we not had plans at 10. Sophie ate a leisurely breakfast, stopping every couple of min to smile and babble at me. By now we were running pretty late. I shovelled rice cereal in her little mouth, hoping she'd actually swallow some of it and not just wear it on her face. I squeezed her little polka-dotted bathing suit on her, slapped some sunscreen, and off we went. Miraculously we arrived only about 10 minutes late. We had a great time and left about 12:30pm. I had several errands to run, but (foolishly) thought we had the whole afternoon ahead of us. We got home and ate lunch and then our daily battle of trying to get Sophie to nap begun. I lost as usual and ended up with an over-tired baby who would only rest (not actually sleep) in bed with me (not in a crib, swing, stroller, etc.). At 4:30pm I was finally able to quickly get us ready to leave the house. I picked the most important of the errands since it was so late- the grocery store. We got to the grocery store and I put on the baby bjorn, which is the only method of intra-store transportation Sophie will tolerate nowadays. I took her out of her car seat and turned her around to put her in the baby bjorn and caught a whiff of her tush. In the 3 min we were in the car she had managed to drop a nice baby load in her diaper. I sighed, took off the baby bjorn, unpacked half of the diaper bag, laid Sophie down in the backseat of the car, and changed her. Then I put everything back in the diaper bag, put the baby bjorn back on, and put her in it. By the time we got home and put the groceries away it was time for dinner, a bath, a bottle, and bedtime (see previous post). And you know what? The fact that we went swimming AND went to the grocery store in the same day made it a phenomenally productive day.

My Favorite Time of the Day

My favorite time of the day is 9:00pm. By this time, the past couple of hours have been the most trying of the day. The baby has been fed, burped, changed, and in tonight's case she has thrown up all over herself, me, and my bed. But by 9:00pm we have cuddled, rocked, sang songs, and she is now in bed, fast asleep. Some nights I practically run out of her room. When Shimmy is home I run into his arms yelling, "I'm freeeeeeeeee." I can finally unwind. Finally eat dinner, take a shower, do whatever it is I have been wanting to do (or fold laundry- whichever). And by 10:00pm I am usually missing my little buggy like crazy and can't wait to wake up the next day and do it all over again!

Here are a couple of pictures from yesterday:

4 months old!!!

On May 15 Sophie turned 4 months old! She has gained almost 6 pounds and grown 4 inches since she was born!

This past shabbat was her kiddush at our shul, which was a lot of fun. She was so beautiful in her Italian lace dress! She has been "talking" up a storm and laughing a lot more.

We have been enjoying the weather- walking a lot and playing with friends. Here are some recent pictures: playing with Kira (her best friend!), hanging out with Daddy, and chilling in her Bumbo.

You Asked For It!

Here are some recent pictures of Sophie! She is getting so big! She has been sleeping through the night for the past few weeks. She "talks" all the time and is beginning to laugh. We are having so much fun together!
